求和 = hasil tambah “hasil tambah”就是把几个数加起来。三个金额里有一个是整数令吉，先补点零零。仙的部分加起来如果满一百仙，就换成一令吉进位；令吉部分每一栏也要注意进位。 例子：RM100.75 + RM200 + RM50.60 = RM351.35。 注意：从仙进上来的一令吉最容易漏掉，漏了就会少一令吉。

the sum = hasil tambah Hasil tambah means adding the numbers together. One of the three amounts is whole ringgit, so write it with .00. If the sen add up to 100 or more, change 100 sen into RM1 and carry it; watch the carrying in every ringgit column too. Example: RM100.75 + RM200 + RM50.60 = RM351.35. Watch out: the RM1 carried from the sen is the easiest to miss, and missing it makes the total RM1 short.

两步比较 = dua langkah, bandingkan 第一步：小儿子得到的是“其余的”，所以用总数减去大儿子的钱。第二步：题目问小儿子比大儿子多多少，要用小儿子的钱减去大儿子的钱。两步都是减法，但减的东西不一样。 例子：共 RM1 000，甲得 RM450，乙得其余 RM550，乙比甲多 RM100。 注意：第一步得到的是小儿子的钱，还不是“多多少”。

two steps, then compare = dua langkah, bandingkan Step 1: the younger child gets the rest, so subtract the elder child's money from the total. Step 2: the question asks how much more the younger child has, so subtract the elder child's amount from the younger child's. Both steps subtract, but different things. Example: RM1 000 in all; A gets RM450 and B gets the rest, RM550, so B has RM100 more. Watch out: step 1 gives the younger child's money, not how much more.
