Puan Chong membeli sayur di gerai Pak Cik Dollah, jirannya. Pak Cik Dollah tersilap memberi baki RM5 lebih. Puan Chong perasan. Apakah yang patut dilakukannya?
honesty = kejujuran
Honesty means telling the truth, acting openly, not taking what is not ours and keeping others' trust. In this unit we learn to be honest with neighbours: telling honest and dishonest actions apart, seeing why honesty matters and how good it feels.
Example: Puan Chong notices that her neighbour gave her RM5 too much change.
Watch out: honesty is not only not lying; it also means returning what we received by mistake.
Kenali
Pak Cik Dollah berterima kasih atas kejujurannya.
honest actions = perlakuan jujur
An honest neighbour tells the truth, returns other people's things, gives back what they borrow and never takes anything without permission. These actions let neighbours trust each other.
Example: Puan Chong returns the extra RM5 to Pak Cik Dollah, who thanks her.
Watch out: however small the amount, if it is not yours, give it back.
Semak kefahaman
Aqil terjumpa dompet berisi wang di depan rumah jirannya. Apakah tindakan yang jujur?
finding something = terjumpa barang
When we find someone's belongings, the honest thing is to return them to the owner as soon as possible. If we do not know whose it is, we hand it to an adult or the management office. Think which option returns it straight away.
Example: finding a neighbour's keys, you ring the bell and hand them back at once.
Watch out: 'waiting until someone asks' is delaying; the owner may be worried.
Fahami
Mengapa perlu jujur?
Kejujuran membina kepercayaan.
Contoh: Semua jiran mempercayai Aqil kerana dia selalu bercakap benar. Mereka berani meminta Aqil membantu membeli barang.
why honesty matters = kepentingan jujur
Honesty builds trust (kepercayaan). Neighbours believe and respect an honest person and are willing to rely on them, and the honest person feels at peace, with nothing to hide.
Example: all the neighbours trust Aqil because he always tells the truth, so they happily ask him to buy things for them.
Watch out: once trust is lost, it takes a long time to rebuild.
the good of honesty = kebaikan jujur
This question asks what good honesty brings. Think: how do neighbours see an honest person, and how do they treat them?
Example: an honest child is asked by a neighbour to help mind the shop.
Watch out: honesty may not earn more money, but it earns trust.
Fikir
honest or not = beza jujur dan tidak jujur
Dishonest actions include lying, taking things without permission, hiding our mistakes and not returning borrowed items. Honesty is the opposite: telling what really happened, asking permission, admitting mistakes and returning things on time.
Example: the ball a neighbour lent Aqil bursts, and he tells the truth instead of saying it went missing.
Watch out: even a 'small lie' damages trust.

Situasi manakah menunjukkan sikap tidak jujur?
finding the dishonest act = cari perlakuan tidak jujur
This question asks for the dishonest one. Think: which action takes something that is not ours, or without the owner's permission?
Example: secretly using a neighbour's Wi-Fi is also using it without permission.
Watch out: the key words are 'tidak jujur'.
Amalkan
honest with everyone = jujur kepada semua
In a multiracial community, we are equally honest with every neighbour: keeping promises, telling the truth and not cheating, whatever their race.
Example: Encik Raju's grocery shop charges every customer the same price and uses accurate scales.
Watch out: giving short weight in business is also dishonest.

keeping promises = tepati janji
If you promise to return something by a certain day, return it on time and in good condition; this is part of honesty. Think which action follows the promise exactly.
Example: you agree to return a neighbour's bicycle before five o'clock, so you bring it back on time.
Watch out: lending a borrowed item to someone else requires the owner's permission first.
Padankan
Padankan perkataan dengan maksudnya
四个词里,amanah(可靠守信)和 ikhlas(真心)是诚实的人有的特点;khianat(背叛信任)和 dengki(嫉妒)是相反的坏特点。
words and meanings = perkataan dan maksud
Of the four words, amanah (trustworthy) and ikhlas (sincere) are traits of an honest person; khianat (betraying trust) and dengki (envy) are the opposite, bad traits. Sort good from bad first, then match the meanings.
Example: being trusted to watch a house and doing it well is amanah.
Watch out: bohong means lying, which is also the opposite of honesty.
Rasai
Hati tenang kerana jujur
Orang yang jujur berasa tenang dan gembira. Dia tidak perlu takut rahsianya terbongkar.
Contoh: Selepas memulangkan wang lebihan, Puan Chong berasa lega. Pak Cik Dollah pula semakin menghormatinya.
a calm heart from honesty = hati tenang kerana jujur
An honest person feels calm (tenang) and happy, with no fear of being found out; a liar often feels uneasy and has to tell more lies to cover up.
Example: after returning the money, Puan Chong feels relieved, and Pak Cik Dollah respects her even more.
Watch out: things gained by lying often leave people restless and unable to sleep well.
Semak kefahaman
a liar's feelings = perasaan orang yang berbohong
How does someone who often lies feel inside? Can they feel at ease, and will neighbours trust them? Think of the opposite of an honest person's feelings.
Example: after lying that you did not see a neighbour's cat, you feel guilty every time you meet them.
Watch out: the question is about the liar, not the honest person.
Pilih semua
Pilih semua perlakuan jujur.
finding honest actions = cari perlakuan jujur
Check each one: does it involve lying, cheating, taking or hiding someone else's things? If so, do not choose it. There are several answers.
Example: asking a neighbour before picking their flowers is honest and polite.
Watch out: copying someone's homework and claiming it as your own is also lying.
Ringkasan
Syabas!
Hati tenang, jiran percaya.
