Unit 9

Keberanian

Danish nampak budak jirannya membaling batu ke arah seekor anjing liar.
Anjing itu menyalak ketakutan.
Danish rasa takut, tetapi dia tahu perbuatan itu salah. Apakah yang patut dilakukannya?

Keberanian
keberanian = 勇敢 勇敢就是知道什么是对的,即使害怕也愿意去做,例如有礼貌地劝阻错误的行为、说出真话。这个单元学习在邻里生活中勇敢:怎样劝告、什么时候要请大人或专业人士帮忙,以及勇敢要有分寸、注意安全。 例子:达尼斯看到邻居的孩子用石头丢流浪狗,他害怕,但知道那是错的。 注意:勇敢不等于凶、不等于跟人打架。
courage = keberanian Courage means knowing what is right and doing it even when afraid, such as politely stopping wrong behaviour or telling the truth. This unit covers courage among neighbours: how to advise others, when to ask adults or experts for help, and how courage needs limits and safety. Example: Danish sees a neighbour's child throwing stones at a stray dog; he is scared but knows it is wrong. Watch out: courage is not being fierce or fighting.
Kenali

Contoh: “Kamal, jangan baling batu. Kasihan anjing itu, ia juga boleh cedera.”

advising politely = menegur dengan sopan When someone does wrong, a courageous person speaks up (menegur) calmly and politely, explaining why it is wrong, instead of shouting or mocking. Example: 'Kamal, don't throw stones. The dog can get hurt too.' Watch out: the aim is to help the person change, not to embarrass them.
Semak kefahaman

brave yet polite = berani tetapi sopan Compare the three sentences: which one states the problem clearly while staying gentle, without name-calling or threats? That is a good piece of advice. Example: 'Bro, you can't park your bike here. It blocks other people.' Watch out: scolding or threatening to tell everyone only makes the person resist more.
Fahami

getting the right help = dapatkan bantuan yang betul Some problems are too big for a child to solve alone. The brave thing is to tell an adult or ask experts, such as a vet (veterinar), the police or the local council. Asking the right person really solves the problem. Example: a cat in the neighbourhood is badly hurt, so Danish tells his father and they take it to a vet clinic. Watch out: asking for help is not cowardly; it is wise and responsible.
Semak kefahaman

Seekor ular masuk ke halaman rumah jiran. Apakah tindakan berani yang betul?

brave and safe = berani dan selamat A snake may be venomous, so catching or hitting it is dangerous for a child. The brave and wise thing is to keep away and get someone who can handle it. Example: seeing smoke from a neighbour's house, tell an adult at once, who then calls the fire brigade. Watch out: showing off by catching a snake is not courage; it is recklessness.
Amalkan

stopping dangerous acts = tegur perbuatan berbahaya Throwing things from a high floor can injure people below and dirties the area. When we see this, we should bravely speak up and explain the danger; if the person ignores us, tell our parents or the management office. Example: 'Alicia, why did you throw that packet from upstairs? It could hit someone below.' Watch out: even a small object falling from a height can be dangerous.
Semak kefahaman

the purpose of speaking up = tujuan menegur We bravely advise others to protect everyone's safety and environment, not to show off or get someone scolded. Think which reason is the most sincere. Example: reminding a neighbour to turn off the gas keeps everyone safe. Watch out: when advising, think of helping, not getting revenge.
Ingat

when threatened = apabila diugut If someone threatens (mengugut) us or forces us to hand over money, the brave thing is to tell our parents, teachers or a trusted adult, who will deal with it properly. Do not be afraid to speak up, and do not fight back alone. Example: Ajon is threatened by an older boy to hand over his pocket money; he tells his mother, and the problem is solved well. Watch out: if we stay silent, the bullying may keep going.
Semak kefahaman

Seorang budak lebih besar mengugut Lina supaya memberikan permainannya. Apakah tindakan Lina yang berani dan selamat?

the right kind of courage = keberanian yang betul Facing a bigger child's threats, fighting back can get you hurt, but putting up with it solves nothing. Think which action is both brave and safe. Example: if a stranger threatens you online, tell your parents straight away. Watch out: getting others to beat the person up makes things worse.
Amalkan

Berani kerana benar

Peribahasa “Berani kerana benar, takut kerana salah” bermaksud orang yang bercakap benar tidak perlu takut. Bercakap benar dapat menghapuskan salah faham.

Contoh: Jiran menyangka Danish memecahkan lampu jalan.

brave because right = berani kerana benar This Malay proverb means: if you tell the truth and do what is right, you need not be afraid; only wrongdoers feel uneasy. Bravely stating the facts can clear up a misunderstanding (salah faham). Example: a neighbour thinks Danish broke the street lamp; he calmly explains what he saw, and the misunderstanding is cleared. Watch out: when telling the truth, stay calm and polite; do not shout.
Semak kefahaman

Apakah maksud peribahasa “Berani kerana benar, takut kerana salah”?

understanding the proverb = fahami peribahasa Break the proverb into parts: 'brave because right, afraid because wrong'. Think: what kind of person can face others with an easy heart? Example: a pupil who honestly admits being late needs no excuses and feels at ease. Watch out: the proverb is about courage from honesty, not about fighting.
Pilih semua

spotting true courage = kenal keberanian sebenar True courage has three conditions: polite, honest and safe. Check each option: does it use violence, is it dangerous, does it enter someone's home without permission? There are several answers. Example: admitting you broke a neighbour's things takes courage. Watch out: climbing a wall into an empty house is dangerous and disrespectful.
Fikir

Apakah cabaran yang mungkin dihadapi apabila menegur jiran?

foreseeing challenges = jangka cabaran When we advise someone, they may not accept it right away and may feel upset or embarrassed. Thinking of this first helps us choose our tone and place more carefully. Example: reminding someone privately is less embarrassing than doing it in front of many people. Watch out: this question asks about a difficulty, not a benefit.
