Kak Nurul, jiran sebelah rumah, membantu Danial membuat latihan Matematik setiap petang.
being grateful = berterima kasih
When others help us, we remember it and show our thanks through words or actions. In this unit we learn different ways to thank neighbours, see why thanking matters and feel what it is like.
Example: Kak Nurul next door helps Danial with maths every evening, and his marks improve.
Watch out: thanks need not be a gift; a sincere sentence also means a lot.
Kenali
Cara berterima kasih kepada jiran
Ada banyak cara untuk menghargai jasa jiran:
mengucapkan “terima kasih” dengan senyuman
memberi kad ucapan atau cenderamata
membalas budi dengan membantu jiran pula
Contoh: Danial menulis kad ucapan terima kasih dan menghadiahkannya kepada Kak Nurul bersama sebiji kek kecil buatan ibunya.
ways to say thanks = cara berterima kasih
There are many ways to thank a neighbour: saying 'thank you' in person, writing a thank-you card, giving a small gift, or helping them in return when they need it (membalas budi). Choose a suitable way; sincerity matters most.
Example: Danial writes a thank-you card and gives it to Kak Nurul with a small cake his mother baked.
Watch out: look at the person and smile when you say thanks so it sounds sincere.

Jiran Mei Ling, Puan Rosnah, menjaga adiknya ketika ibu Mei Ling ke klinik. Apakah cara berterima kasih yang sesuai?
thanking sincerely = berterima kasih dengan ikhlas
A neighbour's help is not something to take for granted. Think: how can we show real gratitude without turning help into a trade?
Example: a neighbour brings in our laundry, so next time they are busy we bring in theirs.
Watch out: 'paying off' kindness with money makes the goodwill feel cold.
Fahami
Kebaikan amalan berterima kasih
Mereka sering berkongsi juadah.
benefits of gratitude = kebaikan berterima kasih
When we often say thanks, neighbours feel their effort is noticed and valued; relationships grow closer (hubungan erat), people are more willing to help each other, and the community becomes harmonious.
Example: because Danial always thanks her, Kak Nurul grows closer to his family and they often share food.
Watch out: without thanks, a neighbour may feel less willing to help next time.

Apakah kebaikan mengamalkan sikap berterima kasih kepada jiran?
think of the benefit = fikirkan kebaikan
This question asks what good comes from gratitude. The benefit is usually about relationships between people, not about receiving things.
Example: after thanking a neighbour, the two families greet each other often.
Watch out: we do not say thanks in order to get gifts later.
Amalkan
Hargai jasa jiran semasa kecemasan
Selepas sembuh, keluarga Danial menjemput Pak Cik Gopal makan bersama.
remembering kindness = kenang jasa
Neighbours who help when we are sick or in an emergency have done us a great kindness (jasa). Afterwards, remember to thank them, and we can invite them for a meal or visit them to show our appreciation.
Example: Pak Cik Gopal drives Danial's father to hospital late at night; after he recovers, the family invites Pak Cik Gopal for a meal.
Watch out: do not forget someone's help even after a long time.

Beg tangan ibu Siti diragut. Jirannya, Encik Firdaus, membantu membuat laporan polis. Apakah tindakan Siti sekeluarga yang sesuai?
after being helped = selepas dibantu
A neighbour who helps when something frightening like a snatch theft happens has done us a big favour. Think which action shows our gratitude.
Example: a neighbour helps us call the police, and afterwards we visit to thank them.
Watch out: blaming the helper discourages kind people.
Fikir
Jika tidak berterima kasih
Jika kita tidak menghargai bantuan, jiran mungkin berasa kecil hati. Hubungan menjadi renggang dan semangat tolong-menolong berkurang.
Contoh: Seorang budak meminjam tangga jiran tetapi memulangkannya tanpa sepatah kata. Jiran itu berasa sedih.
if we are not grateful = akibat tidak berterima kasih
If someone helps us and we do not even say thanks, they feel unappreciated and hurt (kecil hati). Slowly they drift away, and the habit of helping each other in the community weakens.
Example: a boy borrows a neighbour's ladder and returns it without a word, and the neighbour feels sad.
Watch out: a simple thank-you can prevent this kind of hurt.

imagining the result = jangka kesan
Put yourself in the neighbour's place: if you helped someone many times and they never showed thanks, how would you feel? Would you still be so eager to help?
Example: a classmate picks up your book and hears no thanks, so they feel a little let down.
Watch out: this question asks for an unpleasant result.
Ingat
sincerity matters more = keikhlasan lebih bermakna
A thank-you gift need not be expensive. A homemade card, fruit from your own garden or helping with chores all mean a lot when done sincerely (ikhlas). Comparing gift prices misses the point of thanking.
Example: Danial prepares a small basket of rambutans from his own tree for Kak Nurul.
Watch out: do not skip thanking someone just because you cannot afford a costly gift.
Semak kefahaman
Pernyataan manakah yang betul tentang cenderamata tanda terima kasih?
judging statements = nilai pernyataan
Think about each sentence: does the value of thanks lie in the price of the gift or in the heart behind it? Only one statement matches the idea that sincerity matters most.
Example: a handwritten card can make a neighbour happy for days.
Watch out: be careful with absolute words such as 'mestilah' (must).
Padankan
Padankan situasi dengan cara berterima kasih
matching ways to thank = padankan cara berterima kasih
First see what the neighbour did for us, then choose a fitting way to thank them: for teaching us, a heartfelt card; for food, food in return; for doing a task, doing a task for them.
Example: a neighbour fixes your bicycle, so you help wash their car.
Watch out: each situation has one best match, so think carefully.
Rasai
Bagaimanakah perasaan Danial selepas menghargai jasa Kak Nurul?
feelings after thanking = perasaan selepas berterima kasih
After we express our thanks, we usually feel happy and relieved (lega), because we have finally returned someone's kindness.
Example: after giving a thank-you card and seeing the neighbour touched, you smile too.
Watch out: something you are unwilling to give away is not a sincere gift.
Ringkasan
Syabas!
Berterima kasih kepada jiran
Ucapkan terima kasih, hargai jasa jiran semasa kecemasan, balas budi dengan ikhlas dan ingat bahawa hadiah ringkas pun bermakna.
